WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - An SUV crashed into a well-known West Springfield car dealership Monday night.
West Springfield Police Captain Thomas Wilkinson told 22News the driver lost control of a Nissan pathfinder in front of Central Chevrolet a little after 6:00 PM Monday.
Video shot by 22News showed that the vehicle smashed two floor-to ceiling windows in the showroom on Memorial Avenue. Impact appears to have damaged the aluminum window framework as well.
Captain Wilkinson told 22News that some DPW signage and cones were restricting Memorial Ave. from two lanes to one on the curve right in front of Central Chevrolet. He said that, combined with the snow and ice caused the driver to lose control and hit the building.
"He was traveling toward Springfield and lost control, over-corrected, and rammed the building," WIlkinson said.
The SUV did not actually go into the showroom, so none of the cars on display was damaged.
No one was hurt. No charges or citations have been issued.
