CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - Personal information from thousands of TD Bank customers may be in jeopardy.
TD Bank has lost unencrypted backup tapes that include account information and social security numbers for more than 73,000 customers in Massachusetts.
Attorney General Martha Coakley said her office is investigating.
The bank is sending notices to more than 267,000 customers nationwide to let them known of the situation.
Bank officials told the attorney general's office they are unaware of any misuse of the information on the tapes but could not rule that out as a possibility.
