CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - America's most convenient bank is asking their customers to be on the lookout for fraud.

TD Bank lost two data tapes that puts the sensitive information of more than a quarter of a million customers at risk.

These two data tapes were lost back in March and they contain customers names, addresses, social security numbers, account, debit and credit card numbers.

As many as 260,000 customers across the east coast and 73,000 here is Massachusetts alone may have been affected.

TD Bank is in the process of sending out letters to all of their affected customers.

If you're one of them, the first thing you should do is request a free copy of your credit report and make sure there have been no fraudulent charges.

It's also a good idea to put a fraud alert on your credit report.

The company is sending letters to customers whose data was on the tapes, and is offering them free credit monitoring and identity theft protection.

TD Bank has eight million customers. It is based in N.J. and Maine.
