HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) - More than one-thousand people turned out at Holyoke High School Friday night to celebrate Three Kings Day.
The annual event included music, dancing, food and of course three kings.
City officials also used Friday night's event to promote literacy in Holyoke by giving out more than one-thousand books to the city's youth.
According to Andrew Melendez, the Literacy Coordinator in Holyoke, “To give out over a thousand books to the community, we have over 8,000 students in public schools, so to give out a thousand, that's big percentage.”
Seven year old Elijah Quinones told 22News, “I just enjoy myself and have fun and be happy and eat and be glad.”
Three Kings Day is celebrated on January 6th, twelve days after Christmas. It is often viewed as the last day of the Christmas season
