SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Springfield's city council president says it's time to give residents a few extra dollars in their pocket.
Jose Tosado wants the trash fee to be rescinded. Tosado wants City Solicitor Edward Pikula to draft a city council order to get rid of the trash fee.
The fee was put in place to raise revenue to keep basic city services.
However some say it has been worth the cost,” It’s looking good, I'd rather the fee than give it up,” said Anthony Appleyard of Springfield.
Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno recently said the city has a projected $44 million reserve fund by June of 2011 and according to Tosado that's reason enough to rescind the trash fee.
