SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The State Police Narcotics Unit joined forces with the Springfield Police Department to conduct a drug raid in Springfield's Mason Square neighborhood Thursday night
They raided a multi-family home at 74 Sycamore Street at around 8:00 P.M.
Police Offier Richard Rodrigues told 22News that Gerald Washington and Chris Bateman, both residents of the home, were arrested on crack cocaine distribution and firearms charges.
According to Rodrigues, the raid came following an extended investigation, where police saw several illegal drug transactions.
Inside the home, Rodrigues says officers found brass knuckles and an illegal gun; a loaded .38 caliber revolver. Neither Washington nor Bateman are licensed to carry a gun. Police also allegedly found paraphernalia used in the sale of narcotics.
