SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Two homes were the targets of molotov cocktails in the Forest Park Section of Springfield this week.
The first home hit was 35 Kimberly Avenue on Wednesday afternoon. Then hours later 5 more molotov cocktails were thrown at 26 Palm Street.
The first home did not suffer much damage, but the one at Palm Street you can see caused minor damage to the house.
Dennis Leger Aide to the Fire Commissioner said this afternoon a fence at 33 Kimberly Avenue was lit on fire by some type of accelerant.
One resident said he was alarmed to hear his home had been hit.
“That was my concern, were they trying to throw it? Did they target it so they try to throw it so it went into the house, which could obviously be a different situation than bouncing off and exploding on the driveway,” said homeowner Robert Bailey.
Molotov cocktails are usually made in a breakable glass bottle with flammable liquid inside.
Then a cloth is used as a wick to cause the chemicals to ignite.
The aide to the Fire Commissioner Denis Leger told 22News at this point there's no reason to believe the incidents are connected.
