One dead after double shooting in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - One man is dead, and another man is recovering in the hospital after a double shooting in Springfield Sunday night.

Springfield Police Sgt. Jeff Martucci told 22News that the shooting around 5:30 P.M. at 103 Robert Dyer Circle is being investigated as a homicide. Both victims were taken to Baystate Medical Center. One of them, 19 year-old Keough Collins of Chicopee , died from a gunshot wound to his head. The other, shot in the ankle, is expected to survive.

During the night on Sunday, Springfield Police sectioned off two housing units with crime scene tape, conducting a search for evidence.

Martucci told 22News they do not have any specific suspects at this time.
