SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - City and state officials gathered Friday night near the site of a massive gas explosion in downtown Springfield to brief residents on the situation on the ground.

Mayor Domenic Sarno, Lieutenant Governor Timothy Murray, Fire Commissioner Joseph Conant, and Police Commissioner William Fitchet were among those who spoke about the blast, which could be heard and felt from towns away.
