SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Honors Thursday for hundreds of Springfield area senior citizens whose volunteer work helps young people.

Every year the Springfield Urban League hosts the volunteer appreciation lunch. 86 year-old Leanora Monroe told 22News, volunteering every day at the Boys and Girls Club Family Center in Springfield enriches her life.

“It seem like I'm accomplishing something that benefits their experience with my experience,” said Monroe.

The senior volunteers the Urban League saluted range in age from 55 to 90.
