AGAWAM, Mass. (WWLP) - For the young ones, snow means nothing but fun, but for the rest of us it can be hard work.

"I've canceled my plans for tonight and instead I'm working on getting my snow blower going, it had trouble starting last time so I don't want that to happen again,” Chris Richon of Feeding Hills told 22News.

As the first flakes of our second winter storm started falling Saturday morning, people that weren't ready for the first winter storm of the season aren't going to make the same mistake twice.

"I think the first storm really triggers people to be like "you know we've gotta get in there and start getting our supplies. I think some people are caught off guard by that first storm and they're like, oh my, winter's back," Jason Young of the Agawam Rocky’s Hardware told 22News.

While the snow started out light at first, heavier snow in the afternoon forced people to shovel and plows to scrape, bringing with it the feeling that we won't be getting a repeat of last winter.

We're only 8 days into winter and we're already counting our second snow storm in a matter of days. People are realizing that unlike last winter, this one's for real.

"I think we're going to pay for it now, I think we're going to get hit with a few storms and we're going to have to stay tuned to 22News to make sure we know what we're doing. I think this winter's going to be like winter's we've had in the past with a lot of storms coming up and little bits of snow, little three to five inches at a time," Said Gary Boisseau of West Springfield.

It all adds up, with only 11 inches of snow last winter, we're on our way to having enough snow for the plow truck drivers and the children to enjoy

And with just about 80 days left of winter, we've got plenty of time for more.
