SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Milagros Johnson, director of the Springfield Office of Consumer Affairs this afternoon warned the elderly to beware of alleged utility company representatives.
Johnson told 22News, "Several elderly people have been approached and asked to switch utilities.”
The Consumer Affairs Director said that both she and the utilities are warning customers “not to allow those people into your home.”
Those that have gotten their foot in the door ask the people living there to " sign papers."
