CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - The calendar says it’s the end of January, but you wouldn't know it by looking at the clothes people are wearing and the lack of snowfall on the ground.
"It's actually been a good winter, because I commute quite a distance for work and it's been nice not having to deal with snow to and from work. So, that and saving money on the heating bill is always a plus. October was a big scare but we're happy with the way it's going so far," said Gerry Hripak of West Springfield.
The middle of January is actually the coldest time of the entire year. We're already past that now so we're warming up on average.
January is also the snowiest month of the year and all that we have left of the snow this year and this month is what you see on the sides of the roadways, but a lot of people aren't counting their blessings just yet.
"February can be bad you know? Snow or whatever, but after that it gets pretty good.”
["So we shouldn't get too excited just yet?"] "No, we should be just taking it easy and hoping for the best, but there's only two more months to go and that's it," said Stephen Pessimato of West Springfield.
There are snow lovers out there skiers, snowmobilers and snow plow operators who haven't enjoyed this as much.
But for anything else outdoors, the weather has cooperated.
"We are season ticket holders for the patriots and a couple weeks ago we had a pretty cold night game there, but since then it's been pretty mild, pretty good," said Alyce Vincelette of West Springfield.
The weather shouldn't be a factor for the Patriots next Sunday because it's an indoor game.
For the snow lovers out there, we still have almost two months of winter left, so we're not out of the woods just yet.
