WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Do you or any of your family members plan on flying during the holidays?

22News is working for you with information on when to book those flights.

If you plan on flying around Thanksgiving, Christmas or winter break, you shouldn't wait much longer to buy your tickets.

Priceline.com says holiday airfares are trending 3% higher than last year.  The national average for Thanksgiving airfares is $393.  It's $430 for Christmas.

22News went to AAA Pioneer Valley to find if there is a day or time to book a flight for the holidays that could get you a better deal.

"In terms of the day that you book, particularly for holiday travel it isn't going to necessarily help your price at all", says AAA Pioneer Valley Vice President of Membership, Marketing and Public Relations, Sandra Marsian.

Marsian told 22News the earlier you book flights for the holidays the better.

Airlines understand that the people that fly around the holidays aren't really flexible with their dates.  So between the reduced availability, gas prices and competition, the prices you see now aren't likely to drastically drop.
