When to expect this year's foliage

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - It continues to be pretty warm and humid, but we have started to experience some cooler temperatures at night; a sign that fall is not too far away. While most of the trees are still green, we are starting to see a little bit of color showing up on some of the leaves.

The earlier-than-normal color could be a result of the drought conditions we experienced this summer.

As cooler weather starts to move in, we will start to see more and more color. According to yankeefoliage.com , we should see some of the best color here in western Massachusetts from around October 8 through October 20; so right around Columbus Day.

Still, the warm and humid weather we are having right now is not making it feel very fall-like.

“It's kind of odd that no leaves have fallen yet,” said Christina Ramos of Springfield. “We're about to begin October and it's still hot! I'm sweating right now.”

The official start of fall is on Setember 22 at 10:49 A.M.
