WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Things are coming back to life across Western Massachusetts. The main roads are in pretty good shape, and stores and restaurants are beginning to open back up.
Throughout the parking lot of the Riverdale Shopping Center, there are numerous mountains of snow.
It's not unusual to see big piles like that after a parking lot has been plowed.
What is unusual is that there are huge piles everywhere because of just how much snow we got. People didn't waste any time getting back out on the roads once the travel ban was lifted this afternoon. There were plenty of shoppers out to replenish their cabinets after being snowed in for the night.
But the folks who were out and about didn't get out easily.
John Sullivan of West Springfield told 22News, “We spent about 8-9 hours digging out, my house, my mothers. Now I’m here to get something to drink. Cars are out. Everything's done. Time to go home and crash.”
The main roads and highways are in good shape, but some of the residential areas have yet to be plowed.
If you are heading out now that the travel ban has been lifted, things might look a little more back to normal but your speeds shouldn't be just yet.
