SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Hundreds of thousands of people watched the inauguration live and in person in D.C...
While others gathered at viewing parties including here in western Massachusetts.
Dozens of people gathered at the Sheraton Hotel in Springfield to watch President Barack Obama take the oath of office for the second time on Monday.
The gathering also paid tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., which made the occasion that much more special to some.
"I think he would say, dreams do come true. He said he had a dream, he had lots of dreams and this had to have been one of them," said Emurriel Holloway of Springfield.
The event is in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. who event organizers say would have been happy to see people of all ethnicities gathered together to see the nations first black President take office for the second time.
Proceeds of the event will benefit The Open Pantry Community Services, Inc.
