SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A Holyoke couple welcomed the 2013's first baby born in Western Massachusetts.
Maria Dejesus gave birth to her son, Jose Miguel Moreno at 9:09 New Year’s morning at Mercy medical Center in Springfield.
She and new Dad Jose Miguel Moreno spent all day with their new baby boy, Airam Moreno.
They told 22News they weren't expecting a New Year's baby, much less the area's first baby born in western Massachusetts on January 1st.
“I am very content with the birth of my son, I am very emotional right now, it's my first baby,” Maria Dejesus told 22News.
“I feel very happy for him and can't wait until he grows up,” Jose Miguel Moreno said.
Both mom and baby boy are doing just fine Tuesday night.
Little Airam wasn't the only baby born in Springfield on Tuesday.
Baystate Medical Center's Keith O'Connor told 22News that five moms gave birth at Baystate since Tuesday afternoon, and there could be more.
