SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Police in Springfield are searching for two suspects who allegedly broke into a home and attacked a woman inside.

The incident took place around 10PM Thursday night at 31 Fenwick Street. Police Captain Cheryl Claprood told 22News that two men reportedly broke into the home. One of the suspects hit the woman in the head with a pistol. It's believed that she is a resident there in her fifties. The woman was taken to Mercy Medical Center to be treated and is expected to be okay.

State Police dogs were brought-in to try and track down the two men. They were last seen running out the backdoor of the home, wearing ski masks.

One neighbor told 22News that she was shocked upon hearing the news. She said she has never heard of anything like this happening in this neighborhood, which she described as quiet and safe.
