WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Police have released the identity of the woman killed in a pedestrian accident on Memorial Avenue in West Springfield Thursday Night.

The accident happened around 8:00 P.M. Thursday, across from the Eastern States Exposition.

West Springfield Police detective Brian Duffy told 22News that the victim is Shela Wheeler, 42, of Agawam.

According to Sgt. Hubert Reese, Wheeler was crossing the street, heading towards Latitude Restaurant, when she was struck by a black pickup truck.

There is no word at this time whether the driver will be cited in that accident.
