SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The recent decision to close off part of Springfield's Worthington Street to traffic late weekend nights has some residents concerned.
The city's public safety committee thinks it will help curb late night violence.
But some residents who live in the apartment buildings on Worthington are worried the closure may complicate their lives.
One renter explained to 22News, he and his wife already have a hard time parking their cars overnight. "I actually have two cars, one I pay 90 dollars a month for, the other I have to leave on the street because that's another extra ninety dollars. So I'm just wondering, are they going to let us park, people who live here?" said Pete Rojas.
A 90 day test run of this weekly closure will begin in late February. Police will analyze whether the test had any impact on late-night crime.
