WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Westfield State University just completed a 15 million dollar renovation of the Ely Campus Center.  The project that was unveiled Tuesday night is part of a three-and-a-half year upgrade to the more than 38-year-old  Ely Library.

WSU Assistant Vice President of Facilities and Operations Curt Robie told 22News they've doubled the size of the wellness center, and  Tuesday opened the campus center's central  garden level section.

"This was space that was predominantly unusable by the University given its configuration.  And we modernized it and turned it into space primarily for student use," Robie said.

WSU Student Government President Stephanie Close told 22News she's proud to be a senior and can't wait to come back as an alum.  "This is a multi-million dollar project that went into this, and it's all student space.  It's all things that students will use daily," Close said.

There's more to come at Westfield State University.   This Fall, they plan to open a new 56 million dollar residence hall that will house 400 students.
