AGAWAM, Mass. (WWLP) - In the last year alone, $84 million in unclaimed property was given back to people in Massachusetts, but there is still another $2 billion out there waiting to be claimed.

To help people find out if they were among those who have unclaimed money, 22News traveled to the Agawam Senior Center to help visitors there figure out if they are owed. In fact, we found a couple of people who were owed money and had no idea about it.

“Anything will help,” said Dora Forgi of Feeding Hills.

Another man from Agawam found that he, too, was owed money, and was happy, even though it was less than $100.

“I'll take it. Not a problem, not a problem,” he said.

Unclaimed property includes everything from un-cashed checks to the contents of unattended safe deposit boxes. To see if the state owes you money, visit the website of the State Treasurer’s office.
