SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The Young Professional Society of Greater Springfield is celebrating five years here in our area.

The non-profit group held its first-ever news conference Thursday morning at the Sovereign Bank building on Main Street. Members announced the new direction their organization to take.

“Some of the things that we're going to be working on is really advanced professional development for our members, as well as the greater community,” YPS President Pam Thornton said.

Right now, there are over 500 members in YPS. The group works closely with its corporate sponsors to try and create opportunities for young professionals in and around the Greater Springfield area.

For more information on YPS' plan for the next three years, visit their website at springfieldyps.com
