HUNTINGTON, Mass. (WWLP) - Hundreds of residents from the hilltowns are rallying behind one of their neighbors.

John Bergeron lost everything after a fire destroyed his home Memorial Day weekend.

Friday night, more than 100 people came out to Westfield to show their support for him.

Friends and neighbors say John has done so much for so many people over the years; it’s their turn to give back.

Deborah Dugas, a fried of John, said, “He does everything for everybody you know, there's nobody I think in our town that he hasn't helped, so we're trying to do the same for him.”

Henry Dubay, friend of John, said “With him it's not a job, with him it's a mission and I'm just floored by the amount of people that have come out for him, they're all waiting in line ready to go.”

This is just one of many fundraisers in the works for Bergeron. Friday night's fundraiser brought in more than $2,000.
