BELCHERTOWN, Mass. (WWLP) - The plight of Western Massachusetts tornado victims has touched the hearts of many children here in Greater Springfield.
Two children, 9 year old Shauna Sitotte and 8 year old Sara Howie, of Belchertown, have raised money this weekend at their makeshift roadside stand.
Business was brisk with customers who told 22News they admired what the children were doing and where the money would be going.
Colleen Smolinski of Belchertown said, “I know there are a lot of different communities getting together and doing things. I work at a pre-school and they're doing things at our school as well as our parish.”
“We just thought that we were going to do a stand, with the money we thought of donating it to the tornado relief,” said Shauna Sitotte.
All the money they earned this weekend at their roadside stand, some forty dollars, will be turned over to one of the Tornado relief groups on Monday morning.
