EASTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) - A new community is being built in Easthampton that is especially green; it is a neighborhood of homes that are all powered by solar panels.
Currently, only one house has been constructed, but 33 solar homes will be built on River Valley Way, located off Button Road in Easthampton. All of the homes will be able to generate enough energy from their solar panels to power all of their heating and electrical needs.
Usually, solar energy is expensive to install in a home, but since this is a big project, Coldwell Banker listing agent Dave Ryan told 22News that these homes are more affordable. They are going for anywhere between $300,000 to $400,000. “These homes tend to be a little smaller, and also the lot sizes are a little smaller as well, and that's in exchange for open space around the house that the houses in the community can share,” Ryan said.
So far, two of the homes have been sold, but if you are interested, you're welcome to go take a peek to see if solar living is right for you.
