HADLEY, Mass. (WWLP) - They were shouting from the rooftop for a good cause on Saturday in the town of Hadley.

"Call your friends and neighbors, tell them we're here," shouted police officers.

Police officers have been spending a lot of time at the various Wal-Mart rooftops here in the Pioneer Valley.

On Saturday they scaled the heights at the Hadley Wal-Mart on behalf of the Massachusetts Special Olympics.

"I was up there for about six hours, and it's fun, you get attention, and you know what you're doing, It's a cause you want to work for," said Karen Couture of the Mount Holyoke College Campus Police.

And it appeared the Special Olympians were well on their way towards reaching Saturday's goal of $10,000.

Shoppers did their share to raise money for Special Olympic uniforms and travel expenses.
