SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Several Western Massachusetts weekend fires have put a severe strain on the Pioneer Valley Red Cross Disaster relief team.

Chapter spokesperson Dawn Leaks told 22News, that since the Friday fire on East Street in Ware, Red Cross volunteers have helped 10 fire victims find a temporary place to live.

The volunteers also provided food and warm drinks to the frozen firefighters during Saturday night's house fire on Myrtle Street in the town of Orange.

Dawn Leaks said this has put a strain on the chapter's human and financial resources.
