LEEDS, Mass. (WWLP) - Military veterans, VA employees and families came together Sunday night at the VA Medical Center for a special holiday service.
The Amherst College Madrigal singers lent their beautiful voices to the candlelight carol service, a tradition the group has continued for two decades. A 21-year Navy veteran told 22News the event is a festive way to lift the spirits of many of the veterans who need it.
“It's important to let the vets know nobody's forgotten them around Christmastime,” said Harold Burt. “It's the most important season of the year and the most important holiday of the year. It seems to me a lot of people forget.”
Burt encourages families throughout the Christmas season to remember how their freedom was paid for, and do something special for a veteran.
