Amherst home break-in suspect John Lee Kydd arrested

Also faces heroin possession charge

AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) - Forty-three year-old John Lee Kydd of Amherst was arrested shortly after he broke into a broke into a South Amherst home Monday evening, police say.

Amherst Police Lt. Ronald Young told 22News that police were called to a home in South Amherst around 5:30 P.M. on a report of a burglary. After searching the area, they found Kydd, who a witness claims to have seen entering the house.

Kydd was arrested on a charge of breaking and entering in the daytime. He faces an additional heroin possession charge, after Young says police found Kydd was carrying the drug. The suspect also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest from Holyoke District Court.

Kydd was held at the Hampshire County Jail and House of Corrections in Northampton in lieu of $1,500 cash bail. He is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday at Eastern Hampshire District Court in Belchertown.
