AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) - An Amherst mom is going beyond donating money to help those affected by the storm.
The native New Yorker says she was compelled to help after seeing the devastation in her hometown.
Sydne Didier went beyond donating money, and rented a truck hoping fill it with donations and then drive it to New York. The Amherst mom says she sent a message out on Facebook yesterday and the support since has been overwhelming.
Didier told 22News, “I've had a huge outpouring of support from volunteers who want to be at the school with me tomorrow. People who said I can't come on Saturday what can I bring today.”
Didier is collecting diapers, cleaning supplies, face masks, water, blankets, canned goods and pet food. The drive will be held Saturday at The Common School on 521 South Pleasant Street from 10am to 2pm. She plans to drop off the donated goods in Queens.
If you can't make the drive Saturday, you can donate to the Red Cross $10 via text message. Text the words REDCROSS to 90999.
