AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) - A student in Amherst is recovering today after being struck by a car while exiting a school bus.

The accident happened Friday afternoon, at a school bus stop.

A student from the middle school was hit by a car right after getting off their school bus.

According to the Superintendent's office, the incident took place on South East Street, near the Fort River Elementary School.

Fortunately the student is okay, and is now back home recuperating.

But, this was a very traumatic experience for both the victim and the bus full of students that may have witnessed the accident.

There will be grief counselors available Saturday morning at the Middle School from 9 to 11AM.

And the school said these counselors will also be on-hand next week during school hours.
