BELCHERTOWN, Mass. (WWLP) - Once a month, Belchertown firefighters bond with the people they serve.
That's exactly what they did during Sunday's monthly pancake breakfast at fire department headquarters. Dozens of families accepted the invitation that helped the firefighters raise money, and improve their closeness with the community.
“It's a good way for us to interact with the community and reach out and actually let people come out, bringing a lot of kids around so they can see the trucks,” said firefighter Scott Chapman.
And just maybe, later in life some of these kids will recall the fire department's kindness and become firefighters themselves.
