SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (WWLP) - State Police Bomb technicians detonated a bomb found inside a home on Paul Street in South Hadley Tuesday afternoon.
Police and fire officials put the device into a dumpster and detonated it. No injuries were reported.
South Hadley firefighter Joe Scott told 22News that the house in question is a vacant home, and the bomb was discovered around 2:30 P.M. by an environmental cleaning crew.
The State Police Bomb Squad cleared five nearby homes, after the device was found.
South Hadley fire fighters, State Police and agents for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms did not find any other devices and have cleared the home and neighborhood as safe.
Paul Street is located between Michael Drive and Laurie Avenue, not far from the Chicopee city line.
The affected streets have reopened and cleaning crews will be able to resume working on the home.
