NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) - A Southampton man crashed his car into a Northampton convenience store Friday morning.
The driver says he was just trying to get a cup of coffee. As he was trying to park, he lost his footing, and it sent his car crashing into a storefront.
The accident happened shortly before noontime at the King Street Pride gas station. No one was injured inside the store. Don DiGiammo says he was running errands and had been coming from the VA Medical Center when this happened.
"I got it kind of stuck in between, and I went through the window and I drove back out, and everything comes crashing down,” said DiGiammo. “I'm grateful, glad no one got hurt and it's no more than what happened."
DiGiammo told 22News it's has been decades since he has been involved in any sort of accident, and he hasn't even gotten a speeding ticket in about 30 years.
A spokeswoman for Pride told 22News damages were estimated to be less than $5,000. They've already ordered new window panels and are glad nobody was hurt.
