SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (WWLP) - The Columbus Day Weekend tag sales seem to have made an impression on people with some money in their pockets and time on their hands.
Every Columbus Day Weekend, the streets and lawns of South Hadley are filled with visitors, some who travel long distances to see what bargains they can find.
Even though you can buy and sell almost anything online now, the tag sale continues to draw huge crowds.
For Doreen however, the tag sale was better than the internet.
She had a boat listed on Craigslist before but wasn't able to find any buyer. It was at the South Hadley tag sale that she was able to make a huge sale.
“I said we'll put it out here, we ended up selling it within a day. With the economy the way it is people are looking for bargains and this is the way to do it,” said Doreen Lupa.
Even more people will be on Monday. Many sales are held on and nearby Route 116 in South Hadley as well.
