NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) - A serious car accident on Route 5 in Northampton snarled traffic for hours Saturday night.
Sergeant Alan Borowski told 22News, around 6:30 on Saturday, a driver careened off Route 5 and plowed into 9 parked cars at the Pleasant Journey used car dealership at 459 Pleasant Street.
After hitting the nine cars, the vehicle took out a telephone pole and then flipped over.
Firefighters had to use the Jaws of Life to get the driver out; a passenger was able to get out on his own.
One was taken to Baystate Medical Center, the other to Cooley Dickinson Hospital.
Northampton Police Sgt. Craig Kirouac told 22News, that the driver is from Springfield.
We won't know the driver's name until police charge him with a crime which Sgt. Kirouac said is likely. He's not expected to be charged until Monday.
