AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) - An Amherst woman who allegedly stabbed a man in the chest with a kitchen knife is scheduled to be arraigned in a Belchertown courtroom on Monday.

Amherst Police Lt. Ronald Young told 22News that Erica M. Little, 36, was arrested on a charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon following the incident on Friday morning.

According to Young, the police investigation revealed that the victim, a 34 year-old Amherst resident, was stabbed during an altercation with Little. Police were not notified of the stabbing until he had been checked into Baystate Medical Center around 5:20 A.M.

The victim is expected to recover from his stab wound.

Little was arrested by police at her North Pleasant Street home late Friday afternoon. She is scheduled for arraignment Monday at Eastern Hampshire District Court.

The relationship between Little and the victim was not disclosed, but Young says that the two knew each other.
