HADLEY, Mass. (WWLP) - Traffic is moving again on Route 9 near the Hadley/Amherst line, after a gas leak there had caused detours for more than an hour.

Hadley Police Dispatcher Steve Matroni told 22News that a cable company was working in the area, and struck a gas line near the Applebee's restaurant around 10:30 this morning.

The gas company shut the gas off to the area and they are checking to make sure all the gas has dispersed.

For more than an hour, traffic was being diverted in the busy area, which is near where Routes 9 and 116 meet. Traffic on both the east and westbound sides was not being allowed through between South Maple Street and Westgate Center Drive.
