NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) - Gas prices are dropping across the country, except here on the coasts of the U.S.
Prices in Western Massachusetts remain high, and haven’t come down. The cost of gas usually falls after Labor Day, but refinery and pipeline problems have shrunk supplies of gas on both the East and West Coasts.
The high prices are cutting into many household budgets.
"We have to pay a lot more for gas," Roy Wilson of Springfield said "it's really hitting my wallet."
New York, Connecticut and New Hampshire are all at or near highs for the year.
