AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) - The American dream of becoming a homeowner came true on Sunday for one family thanks to Habitat for Humanity.
22news was there to watch Leslie Pinero and her three children raise the last wall of their soon to be new home in Amherst.
The new three bedroom home, which is being built on donated land, will be a big change from the cramped apartment they once lived in.
New home owner Leslie Pinero told 22news it was a very emotional day for her family.
“It felt great, I actually started crying on the phone when the guy called me and told me he wanted me to join my team,” Pinero said.
“This is a great stable family who are looking to stay here longer and this guarantees that this will happen for them,” Executive Director MJ Adams told 22News.
They hope to finish the home by next June.
