Hazmat investigation at shopping plaza

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) - One office suite in Northampton was temporarily evacuated when an employee found white powder in mail on Tuesday.

Northampton Deputy Fire Chief Jon Davin told 22News the hazardous materials team went to 243 King Street Suite 246 just before noon.

Davin said when the employee opened the envelope, a small amount of white powder fell out.

The hazardous materials team tested the powder and found that it was non-hazardous.
