AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) - Five people are homeless Monday night after a fire in Amherst.
The town's Assistant Fire Chief told 22News, it began in the garage and spread to the rest of the home.
All five people were able to get out without being hurt, but the home was badly damaged.
The mild weather did make fighting the fire easier.
Assistant Fire Chief Lindsay Stromgren also told 22News, "Fortunately it's not too bad for our firefighters to work in these conditions, a bit colder and it would be a problem."
The Red Cross is assisting the victims.
