GRANBY, Mass. (WWLP) - A woman was struck by a car and killed as she walked along a Granby street this past Sunday, and no criminal charges have been filed against the driver so far.

Granby Police have identified the victim as 61-year-old Faith Schauer-Swift , a Florida resident who was visiting family in the area.

Schauer-Swift was walking along School Street around 3:30 on Sunday when she was struck and killed by a car driven by a 20-year-old Belchertown woman. Granby Police Sergeant Mark Smith told 22News that they don't know how fast the driver was going, but so far no criminal charges will be filed against her.

Maureen Keating of Belchertown walks down School Street often, and told 22News she plans to be more watchful.

“Most of the drivers are very careful, and I keep a very good ear and eye out as I'm walking along the street. It's just a very unfortunate accident.,” Keating said.

The State Police Accident Reconstruction Team is assisting Granby Police in their efforts to determine how the accident happened.
