Janet Bloom of Amherst identified as victim of deadly Northampton crash

DA: Bloom drifted into other lane, crashed

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) - A 60 year-old woman from Amherst has been identified as the woman killed in a two-car crash on Route 5 in Northampton Friday evening.

According to Mary Carey of the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office, Janet Bloom died after her car veered from the northbound lane into the southbound lane near the Oxbow Cove; crashing into another car.

The driver of the second car, 29 year-old Megan Kwiecinski of Northampton, was taken to Cooley Dickinson Hospital, but is expected to recover from her injuries.

State police are still looking into the cause of the crash.
