SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (WWLP) - About a dozen car break-ins happened over the course of two days in South Hadley.
Police Chief David LaBrie told 22News that these crimes happened between 10PM and 2AM, last Thursday and Friday. He said the cars were not vandalized, but they were all unlocked.
The break-ins happened in the town's Woodlawn Plains section on Lexington Ave., Knoll St., and Lincoln Ave.
Police told 22News they don't have any suspects but believe those responsible were on foot.
Residents say this a quiet neighborhood, but they aren't surprised due to the pressures of these tough economic times.
"The way the economy and everything has changed and the fact that it's summertime you can't take chances anymore. Take off your GPS even the holders cause that let's people know that something is in your car", said Bonnie Miller who lives in town.
Stolen items ranged from GPS devices, purses, and money. However, some items were returned to their owners after being found on the street.
Police say this is a perfect example of why you should not take any risks and always make sure to lock your car, as well as lock your belongings in the trunk.
