NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) - It seems a good majority of Facebook users are catching a case of TMI, too much information.
A recent Pew Research study found that more than half of Facebook users have stayed off the site for weeks at a time. A little more than 1,000 adults participated in the study and their reasons for logging off varied from being bored to too much gossip.
This doesn't seem to be the case around here in Western Massachusetts.
We spoke with some Facebook users who told us they are not ready to give it up.
Wilona Ryan told 22News, “There's been a lot of controversy about Facebook lately. I feel like people are getting fed up but then again I'm still addicted so I keep using it.”
Eli Ness of Northampton told 22News, “I would never do it myself but I have friends that do it, and I understand their reasoning, just saying it's too much. They don't like how much time they waste on the website, which I definitely can sympathize with.”
Facebook did respond to the study by saying they are continuing to grow. The social network ended the year with more than 1 billion active monthly users.
