NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) - New office space in Northampton will mean added revenue and more jobs in that city.

Developers say that the new office complex, located right off Exit 18 of I-91, has been 17 years in the making.

Development Associates first broke ground in August of 2011, and celebrated the opening of the complex Friday.  More than 90% of the space inside The Northampton/I-91 Professional Center is home to Cooley Dickinson Hospital offices and the Health Network Clinical Support Options.

Developer Ken Vincunas is calling it one of the most significant office projects in Northampton. He said it is an “Opportunity for a previously un-utilized parcel to really become something a landmark right off the highway. It's going to be here for a number of years, and it's beginning of what could be a bigger project over time.”

Vincunas says the city will benefit from an estimated $100,000 in taxes a year. And the complex will provide jobs to 200 people.
