NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) - The Center for the Arts in Northampton held their annual gala.

This year it was bittersweet. The event was called "Bye Bye Ballroom".

The center's lease on the party venue is about to expire but that didn't stop party guests from enjoying themselves with a night of dinner and dancing.

“It's sad for me but I'm having a good time,” said Penny Burke. “I'm seeing so many wonderful people and artists. This is great.”

“The center has always been really helpful to us,” said Peter Blanchette. “I'm hoping we'll get support from the community to find another place to be.”

All the proceeds from Saturday night's gala will be used to benefit community arts projects in the city.
